The Ownership Trap

Most entrepreneurs are taught to build, own, and protect. The language of business is ownership — own your market, own your brand, own your IP.

But the Bible presents a radically different picture.

Psalm 24:1 — The Foundation

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."

If God owns everything, then we are managers — stewards — of what He has entrusted to us. This includes your business, your team, your clients, your profit.

What Stewardship Looks Like

In Finance: You don't hoard profit — you invest it, give from it, and grow it wisely.

In Leadership: You don't exploit your team — you develop them, because they are God's people entrusted to your care.

In Growth: You don't chase growth for its own sake — you grow intentionally, in line with your calling.

The Freedom of Letting Go

Paradoxically, releasing ownership brings freedom. When you stop clutching your business as yours, you open your hands for God to do more through it than you ever could alone.

Practical Steps

  1. Tithe from your business revenue — make it a line item
  2. Hold key decisions with open hands — seek God before major moves
  3. Build a generous culture in your team from day one
